Quotes from Rangers legend and former club manager Ally McCoist concerning the club’s demise in 2012 have been resurfacing online as the Gers start to turn the corner.
The Ibrox club are not quite there yet but after eight years of turmoil Rangers finally look to have assembled a squad capable of challenging Celtic for the league trophy.

Whatever happens this season, it’s hard to argue against the idea that Rangers are a different animal under Steven Gerrard and are a team transformed this season.
McCoist is Rangers’ greatest ever goalscorer and was in charge at Ibrox when the Gers were sent tumbling down the divisions in 2012.
The legendary Gers figure held the fort for the club during our most tumultuous years and had to endure sneering criticism and schadenfreude from across Scottish football.
McCoist warned then that those having a kick better enjoy, because Rangers wouldn’t be down for too long.
“At this moment in time we are wounded, there’s no doubt about it and there are probably one or two people out there enjoying it,” said McCoist in March 2012 [Scottish Sun].
“Maybe one or two people having a wee fly kick.
“I would suggest to them to have a right good kick just now because we won’t be where we are for long.
“I don’t want to elaborate on who has had a kick at us, it will just go down avenues I don’t want to go down.
“Let’s just say, while we’re down there we’re having a look up and we’re seeing what we’re seeing.”
Let’s hope that the iconic Gers striker’s comments finally come home to roost this season with a Rangers title victory a landmark moment not just for us, but for everyone in Scottish football.
The comments of McCoist aren’t the only ones which have resurfaced in recent days with comments Dave King made about Celtic’s “deck of cards” also popping up this season.
