Rangers legend and club ambassador Mark Hateley teamed up with club partner Molton Brown to deliver hand sanitiser to a pair of local Govan elderly care homes

The former Monaco and AC Milan striker was on hand to gift the care home the special hand-wash during the worrying global health pandemic which currently has football at a standstill.

The Ailsa Craig Care Home and St. Francis Nursing Home were the beneficiaries of the hand wash as Rangers’ partnership with the fragrance supplier helps fight the war on germs.

Rangers delivered an industrial-sized hand wash to both care homes at a time when elderly residents are trying to keep safe from the coronavirus.

Both care homes are within a mile of Ibrox and were identified by the Rangers Charity Foundation, who supported the donation.

“I think you look at the community and our community is all about our football club, they have been there through thick and thin,” said Hateley [Rangers].

“At times of such need, it is good that we are able, through our partnerships with different companies, to be able to go into the community and help them in such trying times.

“The more we can do right now the better it is for the surrounding community of Ibrox and Govan. We chose nursing homes because the elderly are part of the most vulnerable group to this virus.

“Through our partnership with Molton Brown we were able to do this and it seems like such a simple thing to be able to do but I think it is a very important thing that we’ve been able to do. The more a football club can do for the community the better.

“We have to stand strong together as a community and help each other. We all live in a community, no matter where we are and I think it is very important to keep an eye on the elderly at the best of times.

“As a family football club, along with our partners, Molton Brown in particular in this case, then that is what we will seek to continue to do.”

This gesture from both Rangers and Molton Brown will go a long way to relieving the pressure of sourcing and paying for hand sanitiser during times of scarcity.

Keeping clean hands is at the forefront of the battle against the outbreak of infection and there is nowhere it is needed more than around the elderly.

Rangers forged the partnership with the iconic British fragrance giant Molton Brown back in January in a move which was heralded by marketing chief James Bisgrove [Rangers].
