Rangers legend Richard Gough has spoken to the Scottish Herald about the positive effect of Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
The former defender saw an incredible period of success at Ibrox during his time as skipper. Over a decade-long first stint with the Gers, he won nine consecutive league titles, three Scottish Cups and six League Cups.

Over recent times, those glory years have seemed very far away. Yet, the 57-year-old thinks the ex-Liverpool man is getting the club back to where it needs to be on and off the pitch.

Rangers legend Richard Gough throws weight behind Stevie G

“He is a very respectful person,” Gough told the Scottish Herald. “He is very secure within himself. He has done everything at the highest level.”
“He’s brought something to the club which we never had, or certainly had been lacking in the last few years. And that was a profile. We’re now back on Sky Sports News and we’re back in the spotlight.
“No one is bigger than the club, but Steven is the face of it and it has given Rangers a lot of positives.”

Gough is clearly a big fan of Gerrard, but that’s hardly a major surprise.
While there were disappointments in the cup competitions last season and missed opportunities in the league, the Gers made notable progress in terms of results and playing style.
Gerrard has brought stability and progression off the pitch too, initiating renovations at both the Hummel Training Centre and Ibrox.
He’s doing his best to get the club back on top of Scottish football, just as they were during Gough’s time and the legend is 100% behind him.
