Speaking on talkSPORT, Rangers legend Ally McCoist slammed the SPFL’s ‘extremely poor’ governance and has bemoaned the fact there’ll be no investigation into the organisation, following Tuesday’s EGM result.
The Gers, Hearts and Stranraer tabled a resolution calling for an independent review of the SPFL’s April ballot to end the lower-league season.

The motion required 32 votes but only received 13, with two clubs abstaining and 27 voting against it.
McCoist thinks a flawed system made the vote inherently unfair.
“How many members of the SPFL board would have voted? Six or seven?” he asked on talkSPORT. “So my point would be that those on the board would have clearly voted with the SPFL so I’m not counting their votes to tell you the truth.”
“What I would suggest is, it’s by far and away, hardly a vote of confidence to have more than a third of clubs looking to have another inquiry into the SPFL.
“I’m not sure it’s over and done with. I think in the interest of Scottish football, I honestly believe there should have been an EGM for the SPFL to clear themselves. It has been extremely poor management at best.”

Verdict
The fact that the SPFL board contains seven club representatives ensures it would be very difficult for any motion criticising the governing body to pass.
Stewart Robertson of Rangers aside, it was highly unlikely that any other club representatives who also serve on the SPFL board were going to back an investigation into the organisation’s conduct.
With 75% support required and six clubs reps almost nailed on to vote against – Alan Burrows of Motherwell, Les Gray of Hamilton Academical, Ross McArthur of Dunfermline Athletic, Ewen Cameron of Alloa Athletic, Ken Ferguson of Brechin City and Peter Davidson of Montrose – the Gers never really stood a chance.
It seems McCoist is on the same side as the club and many of its fans as he suggests that this matter should be taken further in pursuit of answers.
