Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has suggested Rangers should resist the temptation to cash in on Borna Barisic this season.
Signed for a reported £1.5m last summer, Barisic has struggled for form at Ibrox. But he has excelled for Croatia, where he is now first choice left-back.
That alone is enough to bump his value up, but Ferguson believes Barisic can offer more value to Rangers on the pitch this year.

“If Gerrard does think about cashing in, it won’t do any harm seeing Barisic established as Croatia’s left-back,” Barry Ferguson writes in the Daily Record.
“Rangers will get their dosh back and then some, if someone comes in for him this summer.
“You couldn’t buy a Croatia international for £2m and the funny thing is he would cost a heck of a lot more if Rangers were trying to get him now.
“But I’d like to see him given another chance. I know from experience it’s not easy for foreign players when they first come to Scotland.”
Is Barisic back in the fold at Ibrox?
Barisic originally looked to be staring down the barrel of the Ibrox gun in the latter stages of last season, but now seems to have curried favour with the club.
The Croatian was said to be part of a trio of last summer’s signings set to leave [the Herald] after an injury-hit campaign.
Unlike Kyle Lafferty and former NK Osijek teammate Eros Grezda, Barisic has intimated his intentions to fight for his place at Ibrox [Daily Record].

Rangers could well cash in on the player, but good left-backs are hard to come by. It looks the Ibrox club are willing to give the player another shot.
But he’ll need to grab it with both hands this time around. Otherwise his time at Rangers could well be running out.
