When Rangers Kyle Lafferty re-joined the club, it must’ve been hard to foresee the Edinburgh club’s rise to the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Not that that would’ve made any difference to the Northern Irish international’s decision.

When Kyle Lafferty left Rangers it broke his heart. He was never going to miss the chance to make amends.

And now, the striker may yet be pivotal in one of the biggest matches of the Scottish Premiership season.

A different role at Rangers than Hearts

Rangers Kyle Lafferty and Hearts Kyle Lafferty fulfil two different roles at their clubs.

The Hearts striker was a key figure in the first XI. A focal point and leading figure. Often times he was the Hearts fan’s favourite.

Whilst still a fan favourite at Ibrox, Lafferty’s role is much less to the fore. Alfredo Morelos is very much the main man at the moment. And while the Gers have one leading the line at Ibrox, it’s likely to stay that way.

Yet Lafferty doesn’t mind. He’s happy just to be here and happy to be part of the club again.

He’s not likely to start tomorrow, but it’s nailed on he’ll make an appearance.

Lafferty could play huge role tomorrow

This is set to be a tight, intense, nervy affair at Ibrox. Rangers – who’ve blown away opposition at home and abroad in Govan – must be favourites. That’s despite Hearts leading the league.

Rangers are a different animal at Ibrox. Hearts have a huge challenge. If Rangers perform the way they know they can we should take this game. Rangers need to win it too – they sit in 7th.

Nonetheless, it’ll be tight.

And with 20 minutes to go, it might the man who has an affinity with both fans who has the final say.
