Rangers kit leak sees Ibrox commemoration by Castore as merchandise deal ticks down

Castore took a while to get going as Rangers merchandise partners with a start badly hindered by the Covid-19 pandemic and supply issues.

Add this to quality control complaints and the fledgling sportswear company haven’t had it easy as Premier League clubs like Aston Villa and Newcastle United jump ship for Adidas.

The initial five-year deal ends at the end of the 2025 campaign and a new deal could be on the cards for Castore,  which might not be a bad thing if the latest Rangers social media leak is anything to go by.

Rangers kit leak sees Castore produce latest offering

This season has seen three strips, all kept relatively under wraps until near to the respective release dates, with another new kit, potentially, on the way.

Shared widely on X and Facebook, the image of a blue Rangers shirt with a commemorative badge looks set to be a nod to the 125th anniversary of Ibrox

Will Rangers renew their deal with Castore?

Whether the strip, like the “legends” one worn by Giovanni van Bronckhorst during his tenure as manager, is purely for supporters or will be worn by the first team is, as yet, unclear.

With Castore losing big name clients and Rangers revenue at record levels, the club – even without a CEO, head of football operations of proper chairman – is in a much stronger position than it was in 2020.

There are no more court cases hanging over the club and the Elite/Hummel deal is long gone as a potential blocker to the big companies like Adidas or Nike tendering their services.

More companies being interested should mean more money being put on the table, regardless of who provides the strip and, given the latest financial results, this is all that really matters.
