Rangers shortlist for the vacant manager’s job appears to have settled with four names being universally reported.
Pascal Jansen, Phillipe Clement, Frank Lampard and Kevin Muscat are those that have been mentioned most often and there is no clear favourite.
Writing on Patreon, The 4th Official has revealed when the candidates were contacted and the current position Rangers are in on their search for a new manager.

Rangers manager search accelerates as candidates contacted
All four managers are said to have been approached already with the respected blog claiming that they were all contacted during the last international break.
Michael Beale’s job was clearly at risk having lost to Kilmarnock on the opening day, suffered a large defeat at the hands of PSV Eindhoven and lost the opening Old Firm derby to Celtic before the break.
The board, for once, seem to have been proactive and put the feelers out early doors – just in case.

Encouragingly, depending on how you view the prospective new managers, all of them have said that they would be keen to discuss the role further.
Out of the three, Frank Lampard might be the biggest name, however, his managerial record doesn’t come close to the others.

In terms of style of play, if Rangers are to properly move forward, then he has to be ruled out because the others can point to proven success with their systems.
Compensation would be needed for Pascal Jansen whereas Kevin Muscat is near the end of his Yokohama F Marinos contract and Phillipe Clement is currently unattached.
It doesn’t take a genius to work out how the Rangers board might act as they look for a new manager.
