Rangers have issued an exciting update on the club’s Player of the Year award, with just 100 votes separating first and second place as of Wednesday evening [Rangers FC Twitter].

Seven players have been nominated – Allan McGregor, James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Steven Davis, Ryan Kent, Glen Kamara and Alfredo Morelos – with the winner set to be revealed on Monday.

Rangers supporters have the opportunity to watch the event – which starts at 7pm – on RangersTV by buying a virtual ticket for £7.99.

Emma Dodds will host and she is set to interview several of the most important figures at the club in manager Steven Gerrard, sporting director Ross Wilson, managing director Stewart Robertson and commercial and marketing director James Bisgrove.

12 awards will be handed out on the night, and the winners of three – Men’s Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Goal of the Season – are chosen by the fans, although voting for GOTS is open to MyGers members only.

The three nominees for YPOTY are Ianis Hagi, Nathan Patterson and Calvin Bassey.

Given that thousands of Bears have likely already had their say, it’s remarkable that there are only 100 votes between first and second in the battle for the main award.

There’s been plenty of debate amongst fans on social media about who deserves the recognition the most and it’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top in a few day’s time.

In other news, some Rangers fans think a well-liked player had his ‘last dance’ at Livingston.
