Rangers latest injury news as Danilo and Lawrence suffer huge blows

The very latest Rangers injury news ahead of the Ibrox side’s home Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee as Philippe Clement is dealt two fresh hammer blows.

Gers go into the encounter after narrowly disposing of Hearts in midweek thanks to a first-half Abdallah Sima effort. That lifted them up to 34 points after 15 games and have a match in hand over arch-rivals Celtic, who swatted aside Hibs on Wednesday.

With a win over Tony Docherty’s Dundee, Rangers will close the gap on the Hoops to just five points before the latter travel to Kilmarnock on Sunday. But Clement’s side will have to achieve that amid further injury woes that Rangers just cannot shake off this season. Here are the latest Rangers injury updates ahead of the Dee match-up.

Rangers injury list ahead of Dundee clash

The Ibrox treatment room appeared to be clearing up just a few weeks ago but it feels the dire situation is back to square one again.

Form hasn’t been affected too much over the last few weeks as a result bar the Aberdeen and Aris Limassol draws but Clement will be desperate to see the back of Rangers’ injury woes this season. Below, we have listed what is known about the current squad situation.

Danilo injury news

The Brazilian strike suffered a nasty facial injury against St Johnstone earlier in the season and had been forced to wear a mask as a consequence. But just as he ditches the protection, Danilo has suffered a separate blow.

Clement confirmed today at his pre-Dundee press conference: “Danilo will also be out, a problem with his knee after a tackle during the (Hearts) game. There may be a chance of surgery.”

This is precisely not what any Rangers fan wants to hear and we can only hope it isn’t as severe as it sounds.

Tom Lawrence injury latest

The luckless attacking midfielder just cannot catch a break having missed the majority of the past year due to injury struggles.

Lawrence returned from an long ACL injury at the beginning of this season but only managed a few games before sitting out of action again. He missed the next six Premiership games and made another comeback in the Viaplay Cup semi-final victory over Hearts at the start of November.

Finally, Lawrence – who has notched two assists this season for Rangers – and his problems looked to be behind him but no, another injury to his leg was suffered against the Jambos in midweek.

He was forced off early during that clash and now, Clement has said on Friday that his midfielder will be out until after the Premiership winter break. Horrendous.

Borna Barisic injury latest

Clement did not offer a further report on Borna Barisic’s knock picked up just before the Hearts game on Wednesday.

The Croatian inflicted a muscular problem and we can only assume he is potentially back fit again given the Belgian’s radio silence on Friday. His inclusion versus Dundee, however, could still be doubtful.

Nico Raskin injury latest

Tough-tackling midfielder Nico Raskin is out for the long-term after being stretchered off against Hearts in November. Clement has also said Raskin’s rehab is not going as well as the club would have liked and there’s not been a further prognosis regarding his absence.

Ryan Jack and Scott Wright injury latest

Clement briefly confirmed at his pre-Dundee press conference that Rangers stars Ryan Jack and Scott Wright will not be available for Saturday.

The pair missed the Hearts win and are still not ready to return to action. Jack picked up his injury during Scotland duty and Wright has a muscular issue that he’s struggling to shake off.
