Rangers influencer Four Lads Had a Dream has clashed with BBC Scotland chief sportswriter Tom English over comments about the club’s financial situation.

As the enforced domestic league shutdown generates financial issues for clubs across Europe, outgoing Rangers chairman Dave King revealed that planned financial investment had been put on hold [Glasgow Live].

Referencing Rangers’ annual accounts and the prediction that the club would need a further £10m in investment alongside King’s comments, English raised doubts over Rangers’ short-term financial security.

Rangers influencer Four Lads would then bite back referencing comments from Rangers’ official club statement on the appointment of Douglas Park as the interim chairman.

Rangers claim:

“RIFC is pleased to confirm that the funding plan announced at the recent AGM is well advanced, with significant investment already received and further commitments in place.”

English then responded saying “I hope that statement is correct” as the two engaged in a very public discourse over the club’s finances.

Tensions between English and the Rangers support have always been high considering the backdrop of the ongoing feud with the writer’s employers BBC Scotland.

But this was increased after a complaint was upheld against English for publicly doubting the legitimacy of crush claims at Rugby Park on the first day of the season.

Football is being rocked by the financial implications of the domestic league shutdown with the likes of Aberdeen and Hearts publicly announcing their own financial worries.
