Former Rangers defender Craig Moore is expecting further departures at Ibrox with Borna Barisic, Glen Kamara and John Lundstram among those facing an uncertain future under Mick Beale.

On Tuesday, Rangers confirmed that Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Filip Helander, Scott Arfield and 41-year-old goalkeeper Allan McGregor would all be heading out the door when their contracts expire at the start of July.

But with a number of other players entering the final 12 months or two years of their own deals, Moore wonders if the exodus is only just getting started.

John Lundstram and Borna Barisic will also become free-agents in 2024. Glen Kamara could fall even further down the pecking order with Jose Cifuentes and Kieran Dowell seemingly on their way. Antonio Colak, meanwhile, does not appear to tick many of the boxes Beale wants from his lone centre-forward, with Fashion Sakala’s infuriating wastefulness meaning he too could be replaced and upgraded.

Who else will leave Rangers this summer?

“Neither (Lundstram or Kamara leaving) would surprise me,” Moore tells PLZ Soccer.

“Antonio Colak, if money came in for Fashion Sakala (could leave). I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Borna Barisic move on if the opportunity came along.

“There are five players we know about that Rangers have come out and announced. You are going to see ten to 12 players come through the door for the start of next season.

“The most important thing for Rangers in regards to the recruitment side of things; talent we know, there needs to be that desire, something to prove. That is important. And you need to have the right players with the right mentality to try and close the gap on Celtic.”

Rangers are yet to announce their first signing of the summer. But do not be shocked to see a flurry of deals completed over the coming weeks. In addition to Cifuentes and Dowell, Rangers are also making progress in pursuit of Jack Butland and Dujon Sterling.
