Rangers icon in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team TOTS as revenue tops £1bn

Rangers captain James Tavernier has been named in the FIFA 21 Ultimate Team Team of the Season after a stellar campaign in Royal Blue.

The Ibrox skipper lifted the Gers’ first title in a decade and a long-awaited world-record 55th domestic championship as the club went the campaign unbeaten.

Named the Scottish Premiership’s PFA Scotland Player of the Year, Tavernier netted an extraordinary 19 goals in all competitions as the Gers impressed at home and abroad.

This is also despite the Ibrox skipper suffering an injury in February which kept him out for over a month of the campaign and the fact he is a right-back.

Not only was Tavernier a prolific scorer throughout the season but he also provided 16 assists for teammates in a legendary campaign.

On top of receiving the PFA Award, Tavernier was also voted the Rangers Players’ Player of the Year at the most recent Ibrox awards.

Tavernier has been recognised as part of the Rest of the World Team of the Season with his card on the popular platform 90 overall with pace (97), physicality (94), dribbling (90) and passing (90) the stand-out attributes.

Ultimate Team has proven the jewel in the EA Sports gaming franchise crown and across all of their sporting franchises – including the likes of FIFA and Madden – the concept generated a total of £1.05bn ($1.49bn) in revenue in 2020 [Sport Bible].

The game mode deals around playing cards of players all over the world who are matched together in XIs by chemistry before players use the teams in a range of online modes to earn coins to improve their squads.

It’s not the first time the Rangers skipper’s exploits have been recognised by EA Sports, with his playing style very much suiting the game and previous incarnations of Tavernier appearing via the platform’s Team of the Week.
