Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara has been taking plenty of plaudits for his performance in the 2-0 win over Celtic as he strolled the club’s second win at Celtic Park on the bounce.
An oft used cliché in football concerns players keeping one another in their pockets, but you will not find an occasion where this is more appropriate than in the case of Glen Kamara v Olivier Ntcham.
Glen Kamara came into the match off the back of three straight starts for Finland yet had so much more fuel in the tank than the hapless Frenchman.
Ntcham was also visibly unsure of the player in head to heads, his indecision and timidness part of the reason why Rangers managed to score that killer second goal.
Kamara didn’t just win the physical or technical game, he absolutely bossed the mental battle with a French youth international and someone who is for all intents and purposes a highly-rated midfielder.
There are similarities in their style and in their footballing educations but at the moment there is only one player bossing this duel and looking like a potential Premier League star.
Both players are 24 and came through elite English academies in Man City and Arsenal respectively but Celtic splashed out £4.5m to take Ntcham from the Etihad.
Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara only cost £50k after taking the unorthodox route to Ibrox via Dens Park but if any player looked worth 90 times the other, it was Kamara.
Whilst there are regular gripes about Ntcham’s commitment to the cause from the Celtic support they believe they have a £15m player there.
But if they’re being serious – and reports in the press have previously linked the player at this price – then what does it say about the value of Glen Kamara?
