Rangers hero Neil McCann has reportedly turned down SPFL League One club Falkirk after they approached him regarding their managerial vacancy [Scottish Sun].

The former Ibrox winger recently completed a short stint as interim manager at Inverness Caledonian Thistle but it seems he is stepping away from coaching once again.

The Scottish Sun reports that he was sounded out by the Bairns, but had already agreed to take up a football advisor’s role with a leading agency and felt he couldn’t go back on that agreement.

McCann played for Falkirk during the 2008/09 season and prior to his recent stint at Caley Thistle, had managed Dundee between 2017 and 2018.

The 46-year-old appeared regularly on RangersTV coverage of Premiership matches this season and it remains to be seen whether or not he will be able to continue punditry work alongside his new advisory role.

Falkirk director of football Gary Holt will now have to look elsewhere to replace the previous management team of Lee Miller and David McCracken, who were sacked late last month.

The Bairns imploded during the back end of the League One season, slipping from first to fifth and missing out on a playoff spot.

Highly-rated young Rangers centre-back Kyle McClelland was on loan at Falkirk over the second half of the season but has now returned to Ibrox.

In other news, a Rangers ‘Covid Five’ member is set to leave Ibrox this summer amid interest from an English club.
