A report from the 4th Official is claiming that Rangers have “substantial” interest in 28-year-old free-agent midfielder Jack Wilshere.
The report also claims that the ex-England international could have a “no-compete clause” as part of the terms of terminating his contract with West Ham United.
This would mean that Wilshere cannot sign for a Premier League club because he would be able to compete against West Ham, something which would strengthen Rangers’ position.
This report comes amid the suggestion the Gers had reached out to the player following his release from a reported £100k per week contract at West Ham United.
Wilshere himself took to Twitter to emphasise that he is fit amid a run of awful injury luck in his career with a source close to the player telling the Press Association he’d consider an Ibrox move.
That PA source, repeated here in the Evening Express, claims that Rangers have yet to contact the player, despite claims from a West Ham insider that Steven Gerrard’s side had made early contact.
Wilshere himself has been speaking in the press about his future and also suggested that his next move would take him away from the Barclays Premier League.
“I am leaning towards that (‘something different’),” said Wilshere [talkSPORT].
“Maybe LaLiga, Italy, something a little bit different that not many English players have done.
“At the same time, I am probably going to take a week or two to decide.
“I was in this position when I left Arsenal and if I have learnt anything from that, it is to take your time and make sure it is right for you.
“Not that I have regrets that I went to West Ham because in my head things would have turned out differently. But this time I am going to take my time and find something that suits me.

“I just want to be happy playing football again.
“When I first signed for West Ham and the first three games when I started, before I picked up a little injury, that was probably the last time I could tell you I was happy playing football.
“I want to go back on the pitch with a smile on my face and play 20-30 games a season where I am an important player for a team.”
Wilshere, 28, made 34 caps for his country, scoring two goals, after breaking through as a teenager at Arsenal and has even played alongside idol and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard for the Three Lions.
