Given the fact Connor Goldson left the stadium on crutches and is set for a spell on the sidelines, the availability of Ben Davies can only be regarded as a positive thing for Rangers.
Especially when you consider that the Ibrox side’s options at centre-back are already limited amid news that summer signing John Souttar and Swedish international Filip Helander will be out until after the World Cup.
Fears surrounding Ben Davies had Rangers left with only one fit natural centre-back in teenage defender Leon King with the likes of NYCFC loanee James Sands and midfielder John Lundstram also potentially capable of playing in the position.
The thought of an inexperienced Leon King/James Sands partnership was making Rangers fans nervous heading into the clash with the Steelmen but fortunately the sounds suggest Ben Davies should be fit.
Ben Davies, 27, joined Rangers in the summer in a £4m move from Liverpool but until the last few weeks had struggled for match fitness amid an absence earlier in the season.
The ex-Preston defender had begun to strike up a solid partnership with Connor Goldson and has started the last four games for the Ibrox club.
