Rangers have been handed an Old Firm injury boost by the news that full-back Borna Barisic will play for Croatia against France.
Provided the talented full-back, 27, comes through the match unscathed then he will be available for the trip to Celtic Park in a major boost to Rangers’ chances.
There were fears that Barisic could miss out on the match against Celtic after hobbling off in the 2-0 win over Ross County.
Despite being called up to the Croatian national squad Barisic is also yet to appear for the Balkans nation during this international break.
But Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic has now claimed that this was only as a precaution with the player now set to play the World Champions.
“Barišić is fine now, we didn’t want to take any risks with him, he skipped those two games, but now he is completely ready and will be ready for the French,” said Dalic [Net.hr].
Rangers will now be hoping the full-back comes through that match without any further problems as the club’s fans look forward to the Scottish Premiership tie with Celtic.
Barisic was one of a number of injury issues facing the Gers ahead of the game with their Old Firm rivals.
Rangers defender Filip Helander was sent home early from the Sweden squad but is expected to be fit for the match [Scottish Sun].
Ibrox duo Kemar Roofe (calf) and Joe Aribo (ankle) are also major doubts for the game following extended spells on the sidelines.
Rangers defender Niko Katic is a long-term absentee and will miss the match.
Rangers fans have also been talking down a narrative in the press that Celtic are much worse off than the Gers player-wise due to a spate of coronavirus related problems.
