George Edmundson might’ve only made a brief cameo for Rangers against Aberdeen, but in doing so he continued to make a big impression at Ibrox.
Scarcely seen since the early part of the season, the 21-year-old centre back has looked a solid, committed and dependable option ever since arriving in Scotland.
The Ibrox club were very determined to sign the former Oldham star and we’re beginning to see why. But how does he fit into the side?

Against Aberdeen Edmundson came on to play in a defensive midfield role and by and large looked very comfortable in it.
Earning comparisons to Burnley and England’s James Tarkowski [Daily Record], the powerful centre back is brave in the air, comfortable on the ball and looks to play forward at every opportunity.
But being a centre back at Ibrox, Edmundson faces increasingly stiff competition to get into the side.
Connor Goldson – who’s been looking to answer his own critics in recent weeks – and Nikola Katic – a fan favourite at Ibrox – have played the majority of the season so far.
Swedish international and £3m signing Filip Helander [RangersTV] will also expect to play given both his price tag and his stature.
That leaves George Edmundson as the fourth-choice centre half, something he may well have been aware of when joining the club.
What that means for Edmundson is that his time on the field could largely be limited to brief cameo appearances and sporadic starting berths throughout the season.

But still being so young, there is plenty of time over the coming seasons for the youngster to win a place in the starting XI at Ibrox.
With his impressive start to life in Glasgow, he’s not exactly going about it the wrong way either.
