Rangers decided not to pursue Francesco Farioli despite his interest in the Ibrox job – and he is now on Premier League radars.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s exit in November naturally sparked rumours about his potential replacement.

Michael Beale ended up being the man for Rangers but a number of other managers – both in and out of work – were interested in heading to Glasgow.

Farioli was one of them; the The Daily Record reported that the Alanyaspor was interested in becoming the new Rangers boss and wanted talks over a move.

Rangers did meet with Farioli according to The Athletic, but they decided to snub the Italian and go with Beale instead.

Farioli is a relatively inexperienced manager at just 33 and whilst Rangers may keep tabs on him moving forward, they decided not to go for him this time.

Francesco Farioli on Premier League radars after Rangers talks

Farioli has been praised for his progressive brand of football over in Turkey and is already in his second managerial job there after a spell with Fatih Karagumruk.

A former goalkeeping coach who worked under Roberto De Zerbi at Sassuolo, Farioli has an interesting story to date.

Calciomercato now claim that clubs in Spain and the Premier League are now following Farioli’s progress in Turkey ahead of potentially appointing him in the future.

Italian club Salernitana have had an interest in Farioli too but the notion of a move to the Premier League is a major compliment.

Alanyaspor are hardly having the greatest season; they’re 11th in the 19-team Super Lig in Turkey and have lost three in a row.

Yet many clubs are now seeing potential in Farioli and he could end up in a major job down the line having missed out on becoming Rangers boss just three months ago.
