Barely a week goes by where Rangers flop Umar Sadiq doesn’t get a mention in the press but this time it’s about a fluffed Panenka penalty and not his Midas touch in front of goal.
The potent forward might have Almeria sitting pretty at the top of La Liga 2 but his cockiness cost his side two points in a drab 0-0 draw with Huesca over the weekend,

Umar Sadiq won a penalty for the Spanish second tier outfit but his subtle chipped Panenka penalty – against which the keeper dived the right way – was clipped miles wide of the post.
Not that Almeria will be too upset with the Nigerian; Sadiq has seven goals and seven assists in 16 matches this season and his fine form has La Liga in the Andalusian club’s sights.
Almeria are currently 9 points clear of second place Eibar, who have a game in hand, and 10 points clear of 3rd place Valladolid.
Ever since the unorthodox Nigerian striker left Ibrox – where he was on loan from AS Roma in Steven Gerrard’s first season in 2018 – Sadiq’s career has gone from strength to strength.

An explosive spell at Partizan Belgrade – where Sadiq contributed towards 42 goals in 52 games – earned him the move to Spain and since then Sadiq has continued to grab the headlines.
Now linked with eyewatering moves to Germany, England and the upper reaches of Spain, it’s quite the transformation for a player who never looked interested in Scotland.
Since joining Almeria, Sadiq has netted 29 goals in all competition and the 24-year-old is a key part of a side who at motoring towards the upper echelons in Spanish football.
Who’d have thought it when the lanky Nigerian forward was yellow carded for flopping over Aberdeen goalie Joe Lewis at Hampden in 2018?
Meanwhile, Rangers have been boosted as a Premier League star finds his scoring touch amid links to an £8m Ibrox replacement.
