Umar Sadiq went past the 25-goal mark for the season on Saturday amid talk that a big summer transfer move is on the cards for the Rangers flop.

Sadiq only made four appearances at Ibrox during his 2018 loan stint before returning to Roma ahead of schedule without scoring a goal.

He was heavily criticised by many Rangers fans for his lack of contribution but his stock has risen considerably since then.

The Nigerian striker spent the early part of this season banging in goals for Partizan Belgrade in the Serbian SuperLiga, before being snapped up by Spanish club Almeria in October.

He’s performed superbly for the Segunda Division side since then, too, and it’s thought that a big transfer could happen in the summer.

Bayern Munich and Sevilla have both been credited with interest, with AS reporting that although Sadiq’s buyout clause is €60m (£52m), Almeria would listen to offers in the region of €30m (£26m).

The former Ger’s current form is unlikely to be putting off big clubs, either, as he went past the 25-goal mark for the season on Saturday evening.

He netted twice in the space of eight first-half minutes as the Andalusian club drew 2-2 with Real Oviedo.

The brace took him to 20 goals in 35 appearances in Spain, with his six early-season strikes for Partizan bringing him to an impressive total of 26 for 2020/21 with five fixtures remaining.

Automatic promotion now looks to be beyond Sadiq and his teammates, but Almeria could still go up via the playoffs.

In other news, a 17-year-old is set to make the Rangers squad for Sunday’s clash against Celtic following a big injury blow.
