Rangers flop Fabio Cardoso reportedly interesting Portuguese giants Benfica

Rangers flop Fabio Cardoso is on the radar of Portuguese giants Benfica, at least according to reports in his home country.
Portuguese news outlet Correio de Manha are claiming the Águias are eyeing up the centre back with a view to an £850k move.
It’s not without good reason either. The player, who joined Portuguese side Santa Clara for free in the summer, has been on fine form the Premeira Liga outfit.

Cardoso has made 25 appearances for his new side this season, scoring six goals from centre half. He has clearly enjoying being back in his homeland and is now trying to get back to the top of his game.

It’s immensely frustrating. Rangers splashed out a reported £1.5m on Fabio Cardoso from Vitoria Setubal after Pedro Caixinha took over at the club. It’s a time from which Rangers are still recovering.
The defender toiled in his first and only year at the club. He made only 18 appearances and
his contract with Rangers was mutually terminated at the beginning of this season.
He would then go on to sign a four-year deal with Santa Clara, where he has clearly reignited a flailing career.
Fabio Cardoso clearly struggled with the pressures of playing at Rangers and couldn’t get out of the club quick enough.

Yet in Benfica, Cardoso appears to be interesting one of Europe’s biggest clubs. It’s just further evidence of the waste of money and talent under Pedro Caixinha last season.
Another one of the Portuguese manager’s flops is also looking to kickstart his career, but this time a little further from home.
