Rangers right-back Adam Devine has been officially ruled out of the Ibrox side’s weekend clash with Celtic at Parkhead after seeing red for the B team.

The 20-year-old defender has been used in the first-team this season but was turning out for the Lowland league B team when he was sent off in the 3-1 defeat against Celtic at Ibrox over the weekend.

Remarkably, the right-back was one of three players who were sent off with Bailey Rice – who had his Rangers debut earlier in the year – and Lewis Budinauckas also theoretically banned for the trip to Parkhead.

But it’s the situation with Adam Devine which remains most relevant for Rangers fans who will go into the match with Celtic with captain James Tavernier the only recognised right-back.

That means that the club will be wrapping their marauding skipper up in cotton wool ahead of the clash as the Rangers team look to set right an abysmal record against Celtic this season.

The management and players came in for a lot of criticism from the club’s supporters for a dismal display at Hampden where Michael Beale got the lineup wrong and the player’s failed to deliver.

Whilst Adam Devine didn’t play in the 2-1 League Cup Final defeat to Celtic, it’s another option that Rangers will be without heading into the match.

The right-back joins the likes of Tom Lawrence, Kemar Roofe, Filip Helander, Steven Davis and Rabbi Matondo as absentees, whilst there are doubts over Nicolas Raskin.

Rangers are currently nine points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and will need to get a result at Parkhead if they harbour serious ambitions of challenging their Old Firm rivals.

The Ibrox side go into the match in good away form, with Michael Beale having picked up maximum points on the road since coming into the job during the World Cup break.
