Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister has been coy on the club’s deadline day transfer plans as he praised sporting director Ross Wilson.
The former Scotland international midfielder was speaking as the Gers remain in a high-profile hunt for a new midfielder themselves ahead of the transfer window closing later today.
Whilst McAllister was not giving any definitive answers either way concerning Rangers’ transfer interest, he does believe that any new signings will need to come straight into the first team.
“At a place like this we are continually looking to improve and try to get better and if something positive happens that will be good,” said McAllister [Andy Newport].
“We just have to wait and see what happens.
“Ross is in complete charge of that and over the piece since we’ve been here, we have always been able to show a bit of imagination to create a deal and make something happen.
“I think if there was anything going to happen it would have to be a player who was close to coming right into the first team.”
Rangers remain in the hunt for at least one midfielder as the transfer window enters its final hours.

The Ibrox side have previously been heavily linked with Preston North End midfielder Daniel Johnson during the window as well as South African midfielder Bongani Zungu.
A move to bring the Amiens midfielder, 27, to Ibrox is said to be back on after the player failed a medical in August [L’Equipe].
