Rangers assistant boss Gary McAllister has bitten back at controversial claims of a rift in the Ibrox dressing room.

The claims were made by former striker Hugh Burns live on the radio [Talking Football 13/02/20] where he suggested Rangers’ poor form was down to unrest in their Dubai training camp.

But after the club’s stunning 3-2 comeback win over Braga in the Europa League on Thursday, McAllister is adamant this shows the togetherness in the Ibrox camp.

“I can say that absolutely 100 per cent, there was no unrest in Dubai. It was fantastic for us, it went really well,” said McAllister [Daily Record].

“Thursday night proved our togetherness. It’s just there, you can see it.

“All that talk is par for the course at a big club. The best way to put all that to bed is to get results and go on a run again.”

Despite stuttering since returning to action in 2020, Rangers rallied to pull off a stunning 3-2 comeback win against Portuguese side Braga.

For many fans, this should act as a catalyst to turn their stuttering league form around and mount a serious run of victories which put pressure on Celtic.

For McAllister, it’s further evidence that this side has the bottle, mentality and togetherness to go on to be a real success together.

But given Hugh Burns is a former Rangers player, why is he making desperate claims of a rift live on national radio?

Does this not just give the club’s rivals more ammunition to attack it with?
