Rangers fans have given a tongue-in-cheek response after the Gers announced a new partnership with internet privacy and technology giants NordVPN.
The Gers offer RangersTV coverage of the club’s games to anyone outside of the UK and Ireland provided they’ve signed up to the appropriate membership.
Some cheeky fans have used a VPN – Virutal Private Network – to fool the club’s servers into thinking they’re logging on from abroad to sneakily watch the matches from within the UK.
It’s no real skin off Rangers’ nose – the club benefit from memberships to RangersTV – but TV deals and broadcasting rules within the UK prevent many of these matches being legally broadcast within the country.
Obviously, Rangers have made absolutely no suggestion they’d ever endorse this kind of behaviour – let alone facilitate it – and it’s important we reiterate that.
Rangers are clearly committed to adhering to the broadcasting rules and regulations of whatever country they are operating in and it will be no different here.
This is purely from the viewpoint of fans and the partnership with NordVPN follows a long-line of exciting partnerships established between the club and numerous brands ever since the appointment of marketing director James Bisgrove.
Through the partnership Rangers and their fans will be able to access NordVPN’s “global market” leading technologies and services with “special offers” promised to the club’s support.
“We’re delighted to welcome NordVPN to our commercial partnership family and are confident their offering will be warmly received by Rangers global supporter base,” said Bisgrove [Rangers].
“This partnership is another positive step as part of our wider digital transformation strategy.
“We continue to focus on developing both commercial partnerships, in a wide range of sectors, and Rangers digital capabilities. I am particularly pleased this partnership enables us to meet those dual objectives.’’
Rangers fans however had a tongue-in-cheek response to the partnership as they took to Twitter to celebrate the latest link-up for the club:

This isn’t the only partnership which Rangers have made this week which has caught the eye of the Ibrox club’s supporters.
Rangers fans expressed their delight during the week after the club made their historic link-up with German club Hamburger SV official.
