Rangers fans will love what Alfredo Morelos has shared on Instagram ahead of Lyon clash

Rangers fans will love what star striker Alfredo Morelos has shared on Instagram ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League clash against Lyon.

The champions of Scotland are taking on the French giants at Ibrox in Group A and Morelos, who is the club’s record all-time European goalscorer, is almost certain to start.

The Colombian international has made a decent start to the season, with three goals and one assist to his name from eight appearances, and he tends to bring his A-game in this competition.

The likes of Porto, Legia Warsaw and Feyenoord have all been on the receiving end of big Buffalo goals in recent seasons and he’ll be hoping to deliver again against OL.

The opposition have a familiar face or two on their books, including former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, who moved to Lyon from the Hoops in 2018 for a fee in the region of £20m [BBC Sport].

During and after Dembele’s time in Scotland, Celtic fans have consistently claimed that the former France U21 international is a better striker than Morelos.

However, on both Twitter and Instagram on Wednesday morning, the official UEFA Europa League account shared a graphic that compared the career stats of the two players and the Gers star’s numbers are superior.

In 259 appearances, Morelos has scored 143 goals and notched 57 assists, while in 294 games, Dembele has 131 goals and 41 assists.

The post was picked up on by scores of Bears and in a move that will certainly delight supporters, El Bufalo himself shared the comparison on his Instagram story.

Morelos will be hoping to improve upon his already outstanding career stats on Thursday as the Gers go in search of another famous European victory under the Ibrox lights, but Dembele won’t feature for the visitors, after being ruled out through injury.

Ahead of the opening round of EL fixtures, Rangers have edged ahead of Leicester and streaked clear of two other British teams in a big UEFA poll.
