Alfredo Morelos was the hero once again as he scored a contentious winner against Hearts at Tynecastle yesterday and sent Rangers fans into delerium.
The Colombian striker’s decider in the 2-1 win looked offside. It also sent Rangers top of the league and helped Morelos reach a record equalling run of scoring in seven consecutive Scottish Premiership matches.
And whilst the entire league was fizzing, the striker was celebrating. This time with a would-be pitch invader, a young Rangers fan who’d ran on to the field to grab a hug with his hero.

A club icon in the making
Rangers are where they are because of three main things.
Firstly, we have a well-drilled, well-trained team who are always prepared and are comfortable with the leadership of Steven Gerrard. Credit has to go to the Gaffer and everyone else involved for that.
Secondly, the players will also dig in and fight for each other in a way we haven’t seen in years. Whilst dodgy officiating has been an influence, Rangers are bottom of the Fairplay league. We’ve a meanness and determination we haven’t had since Walter Smith. The team is tackling harder and standing up for each other.
They know what it means to play for Rangers.

And finally, because we have quality players that we can rely on to produce. Alfredo Morelos is the Premiership’s top scorer with nine, Tav is top for assists with eight. Goldson was magnificent yesterday. Shagger, is well, Shagger.
Of the bunch, Morelos is becoming our talisman. The Colombian has been directly involved in more goals than any other Scottish Premiership player since the beginning of last season. He’s the club’s main man and an icon in the making. He’s also a hero to the young fans – something they haven’t really had in a while.
And it clearly means the world to them too.
