Rangers rose in the rankings courtesy of coefficient points gained from a 4-3 win against Belgian side Royal Antwerp with the club’s position made even more impressive by the fact Rangers have only competed in Euro competition for three seasons out of the last ten.
Steven Gerrard has qualified for the Europa League group stages every single year of his Ibrox tenure with the only other European campaign since 2012 – under Pedro Caixinha – ending in disaster in Luxembourg before it even got started.
And the Gers will have their sights on going even further up the rankings than 55 as they look to host Royal Antwerp at Ibrox next week and potentially continue to the Last 16 of the competition.
Rangers’ rise up the rankings is also a huge testament to the progress made under Gers manager Steven Gerrard.
