Rangers fans will get the chance to come together to pay tribute to legendary goalkeeper Andy Goram after his passing.
The Ibrox support have once again been cast into mourning after the legendary stopper – nicknamed The Goalie – tragically lost his battle with cancer at the age of 58.
Rangers have announced funeral details surrounding Goram with fans able to pay tribute at both the upcoming friendly with Sunderland in Portugal and against West Ham United at Ibrox.
A minute’s silence will be held for Andy ahead of the pre-season friendly with the Black Cats in Albufeira this Saturday.
The Goalie’s funeral will also take place on the 18th of July at Wellington Church and Rangers will lay a wreath ahead of their friendly with West Ham the next day, whilst other tributes are to be planned.
“Rangers can today confirm there will be minute’s silence ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Sunderland in memory of legendary goalkeeper Andy Goram,” reads a club statement.
“Goram made 260 appearances for Gers between 1991 and 1998. In that time, he won five league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups.
“He sadly passed away on Saturday following a short battle with cancer at the age of 58.
“The club can also today confirm Andy’s funeral will take place on Monday, 18 July at Wellington Church.
“The following day, representatives of Rangers will lay a wreath prior to the West Ham United friendly match, with further tributes planned for that evening to allow supporters to pay their final respects to ‘The Goalie’.”
Rangers to pay respects to ‘The Goalie’ Andy Goram
Widely regarded as one of if not the best Scottish goalkeeper in history, the legendary stopper was a fixture of the Rangers 9IAR team and won ten major honours with the club.
Goram was that good – as his highlight reel of remarkable saves proves – that at one point he may well have even been the best in the world.

But it wasn’t just the legendary keeper’s ability between the sticks that has him fondly remembered by fans.
Notoriously down to Earth and a unique character, Andy the man will be missed as much as Goram The Goalie and fans will cherish the opportunity to pay their final respects, many of whom have memories of Andy off the pitch as well as on it.
As well as Rangers, Hibs and Scotland, Andy Goram also turned out for Oldham, Notts County, Sheffield United, Motherwell, Man United, Hamilton, Coventry City, Queen of the South and Elgin City.
It’s been a difficult period for Rangers after the club also lost legendary manager Walter Smith and iconic kitman Jimmy Bell over the course of the last year.
Legendary forward player Davie Wilson also passed away in recent times, with his funeral cortège only passing Ibrox within the last month.
The tributes to Andy Goram stretch far beyond Ibrox too as the Proclaimers revealed earlier in the week.
