The British ambassador to Portugal has sent a message of appreciation to Rangers fans and pledged to follow the club after they knocked local side Braga out of the Europa League.
Chris Sainty is the official Embaixador Britânico em Portugal and earned press in the wake of Rangers’ 1-0 win in the Iberian nation by tweeting his congratulations to Steven Gerrard’s side [Sainty].
But such has been the response of the Ibrox support, Liverpool fan Sainty has decided to “henceforth take a close interest in the club’s fortunes”.
In a rousing message on Twitter, Sainty admits that whilst he hasn’t followed Rangers for long, he has followed Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.
The Rangers support’s response to the politician’s tweet clearly struck a chord with the British ambassador so much that he’s taken an interest in the club.

It’s not gone unnoticed by the Rangers fans, who’ve been welcoming the government official to the party on Twitter.
