Rangers fans have been slaughtering former Hibs striker Tam McManus for comments he made regarding the Gers’ defiance over the SPFL’s cinch sponsorship deal.
These comments also come as reports suggest the SPFL top brass are set to call an emergency meeting regarding the situation which surrounds Rangers’ unwillingness to promote the sponsor.

According to Glasgow Live, the emergency meeting will take place this afternoon as the scrambling organisation look to salvage their latest commercial contract
The SPFL signed a new deal with online used car dealership cinch at the beginning of the season with the contract said to be worth £1.6m per year.
However, Rangers refused to promote aspects of the deal – as is their right – due to a conflict of interest and existing commercial partnerships signed before this deal was done.
This resulted in Rangers failing to promote the cinch brand in their ground or award a “cinch Man of the Match” during their Scottish Premiership opener with Livingston.
After SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan wrote to the member clubs criticising Rangers, Gers Managing Director Stewart Robertson release a letter which nailed the SPFL to the wall.
In it, the Gers director claims Rangers informed the SPFL of the conflict of interest prior to the deal being signed and claim the SPFL went ahead and signed it anyway.
The Ibrox club also criticised the official members’ body for outsourcing the commercial contract, resulting in a lost of £100k per season to the clubs.
Read it HERE.
Rangers are invoking their rights under Rule I7 of the SPFL’s own rulebook which states clubs are not “obliged to comply with this rule if to do so would result in that club being in breach of a contractual obligation entered into prior to the Commercial Contract concerned.”
Quite what Tam McManus would know about this is beyond anyone and the ex-Hibs striker stirred the pot on PLZ Soccer over Rangers’ stance.
The outspoken striker regularly takes the opposite stance from the Gers and here he doesn’t make a lot of sense as he criticises the Gers for outing the news of the £100k per season commission.
“Stewart Robertson and Rangers are desperate to get shot of Neil Doncaster,” said McManus [PLZ Soccer].
“They have been for the last year to 18 months, there’s been a war going on between the two of them.
“Rangers don’t seem to be happy with the cinch deal but I think the rest of the clubs have obviously agreed to it.
“I think them divulging this £100k is poor to be honest and it’s just designed to put more pressure on Neil Doncaster.”
Rangers fans – buckled as always when Tam McManus gives his two cents – had this to say in response to the ex-Hibs striker’s comments:

Rangers aren’t letting it up when it comes to the incompetence of those running the national game and perhaps it’s time for some to put their distaste of the Ibrox club to one side for the betterment of Scottish football.
Here’s more about the cinch fiasco as Rangers make it clear the SPFL ignored their repeated warnings regarding a conflict of interest.
