Rangers fans shouldn’t dismiss the chances of Celtic being awarded the Premiership title despite seemingly favourable comments from the UEFA President, which were quoted by the Mirror.
Since the suspension of the vast majority of European domestic leagues as well as UEFA club competitions, speculation has been rife about whether or not titles would be awarded in the event of an incomplete season.

However, on Wednesday, UEFA chief, Aleksander Ceferin, put an end to the idea that his organisation will be instructing national bodies to crown the current leaders of each domestic league as champions.
“I’ve seen and heard some again fake news that UEFA will advise leagues to finish the championships now and decide that the winners are the ones who are number one now,” he said, as quoted by the Mirror.
“I can say that it’s not true. Our goal is to finish the leagues and we didn’t recommend anything like that to any association or league.”
His words have been twisted by some outlets to suggest that current league leaders, such as Celtic, will not be awarded league titles should no further matches be played.
That would be a victory for Rangers, who have already stated that, from their point of view, the season would be incomplete unless all fixtures were fulfilled [Rangers.co.uk].

Yet, this shouldn’t be taken as some sort of guarantee that Celtic won’t be given the title.
All these comments from Ceferin do, is wipe UEFA’s hands of the situation. He’s suggested that any further decisions will be in the hands of respective national bodies, in this case, the SFA and the SPFL.
It’s the opinions of Ian Maxwell, Neil Doncaster and co. that are of crucial importance now.
UEFA have made it apparent that they want games played and they are happy to attempt to facilitate that in any way they can, but if a resumption isn’t possible, it looks like they won’t intervene.
