During Friday morning’s press conference, as followed by the Rangers Twitter account, Steven Gerrard delivered some bad news.
James Tavernier and Jermain Defoe are doubtful for the game against Aberdeen.
Before now, there had been no indication that either player was carrying a knock.
However, if one or both were to miss out, it would constitute a big blow for the Gers.
Captain, James Tavernier, has played in all 34 SPL matches so far this season. From right-back, he’s contributed a whopping eleven goals and 14 assists, that’s more direct goal involvements than any other player in the division.
He has his critics, but he’s a vital part of Gerrard’s team.
Furthermore, Jermain Defoe’s importance has increased in recent weeks.

The forward has been influential as both a scorer and a provider, in the absence of Alfredo Morelos.
With the Colombian still suspended, Defoe’s absence could bring a rare start for Kyle Lafferty.
Hopefully, both players will be fit enough to take some part in training on Friday. If they aren’t and they miss Sunday’s clash at Ibrox, though, it will harm the Gers’ chances of sewing up second place with three games to spare.
Here’s how a selection of fans reacted to the injury update:
