WWE wrestler and celebrity Rangers fan Drew McIntyre reached the pinnacle of his profession by securing the WWE World Championship at Wrestlemania 36.

The towering Scotsman became the first British wrestler to hold the title after defeating Brock Lesnar in the special closed-doors event, which was spread over two days.

Never slow to nail his colours to the mast, the Ayrshire-born bluenose has just catapulted himself into the wrestling stratosphere.

The likeable wrestling personality was even out challenging Chris Sutton whilst wearing a Rangers top [BT Sport] just days before he took to the ring in Orlando, Florida.

Rangers themselves also sent McIntyre a special Ibrox jersey [Rangers] as the WWE prepared to come to town at the Glasgow Hydro.

McIntyre earned his shot at the WWE title after winning January’s Royal Rumble and whilst it might’ve been in unconventional circumstances, it still feels just as special for Drew.

“This is the WrestleMania the world stood still,” said Drew [BBC].

“I’m proud to be part of it.

“It feels so good to get my happy ending after 19 years of ups and downs – after clawing my way back, not even from the bottom, but from 10 feet under and starting again.

“This WrestleMania will never be forgotten.”

Rangers fans have been congratulating the big wrestler on Twitter after the new WWE World Champion achieved a first in sports entertainment.
