Rangers fans have been sending their best wishes to Ibrox favourite Nikola Katic after the club revealed the Croat has sustained an injury which will keep him out for the “foreseeable future”.
The likeable centre-half signed a new deal last season and is amongst the fans’ most adored players at the club.
Only 23, this would likely have been the season where Niko would be expected to kick on and stake his claim for a full-time first-team spot.

“Rangers are disappointed to announce that Niko Katic has sustained an injury during preseason training,” reads an Ibrox statement [Rangers].
“The injury was sustained more than a week ago and will keep him out of action for the foreseeable future.
“Niko is being looked after by our medical team led by Dr Mark Waller.”
Whilst the Ibrox side have not yet confirmed the nature of the injury, it comes after Katic appeared to have put in an immense amount of work during the coronavirus shutdown.
The 6ft4 centre-half was posting regular pictures on social media of him working out ahead of the new season and looked in fine shape.
These sorts of training ground injuries are tragic and whilst speculation persists as to the nature of the injury, more will become clear as results come back.
According to STV’s Raman Bhardwaj, the defender has sustained a knee injury.
The Ibrox support have leant their support to a player widely revered by the Rangers fans:
