Rangers’ performance over the two legs against FC Midtjylland might’ve surprised some people, but the comments of BBC Scotland pundit Michael Stewart have certainly surprised Rangers fans.
The outspoken commentator has been the subject of much criticism from Rangers fans [Four Lads Had a Dream] for his comments in the wake of last week’s crush at Kilmarnock.

Even more so, the former Hibs and Hearts midfielder was criticised by the club itself for his disgraceful comments in the wake of the incident [Club 1872].
Yet Stewart took to Twitter to praise Rangers for their performances in Europe and in flying the flag for Scotland.
Needless to say, some Rangers fans aren’t buying it.

If the pundit is to curry favour with the Rangers support he’s going to have to do a lot more than some reluctant praise.
The commentator has at times been on a one-man warpath against Rangers, mixing some questionable views on football with questionable views on politics.
Whilst it’s fair enough that he praised Rangers, you get the feeling he did so through very gritted teeth.

The Ibrox club aren’t exactly flavour of the month at BBC Scotland, and Stewart is notorious for attacking the club with sly digs on Sportscene or Twitter.
Rangers progressed to the Playoff Round of the Europa League after an impressive 3-1 win against FC Midtjylland on the night, making it 7-3 on aggregate.
