Rangers fans gave the Ibrox players one hell of a reception at a Portuguese airport after their heroics in Braga last night.
The Ibrox club’s support is famous the world over for their unerring, passionate commitment to the club they love.
When things go wrong, it can create a huge amount of pressure, but when things go right, the adulation is like nothing else in football.
As Steven Gerrard’s charges prepared to head back to Scotland after securing a 1-0 win on the night against Braga (4-2 on aggregate) there were hundreds of bears on hand to praise them.
In scenes mirroring those when the team arrived back in Glasgow after defeating Russian side FC Ufa in the Europa League, the fans were on hand to give a hand to the players.
And it was immensely well-deserved hand too.
Rangers were tactically disciplined and intensely concentrated to break down a talented Braga side and prevent them from scoring for the first time under new boss Ruben Amorim.
It was an iconic night at Ibrox and one the likes of pitched in centre-half George Edmundson will never forget.
The youngster described the victory as “one of the best days of his life” [Four Four Two] as the 22-year-old made an incredible European debut for the Ibrox club.
Having those Rangers fans showing their support in the airport will surely have just been the cherry on top for the former Oldham youngster.
