Rangers fans have responded after it was suggested that Steven Gerrard was on a shortlist of candidates to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Everton.

Rumours immediately started about who could replace the Italian at Goodison Park and The Athletic claimed that Gerrard is on a six-man shortlist.

It’s stated that the other potential candidates are David Moyes, Rafa Benitez, Roberto Martinez, Erik ten Haag and Paulo Fonseca.

Rangers fans aren’t buying the report, though.

The obvious issue with a potential approach for Gerrard from Everton’s point of view is that he’s a legendary figure at Liverpool, the Toffees’ fiercest rivals.

It’s a big stretch to suggest that of all the managers in world football, they’d deem it prudent to move for the one with the biggest ties to Anfield.

Even if they did, there’s no way the Gers boss would take the job.

Some Bears also suggested that irrespective of rivalries and allegiances, the Rangers job is the bigger of the two positions anyway.
