Rangers fans have responded on social media after Steven Gerrard provided a big update on Ryan Jack.
Jack is a key player for club and country, who offers a lot both in and out of possession and leads by example.
That’s why it’s been tough for Rangers and Scotland to be without him since 21 February.
That’s the date on which he limped out of a Premiership fixture against Dundee United, and after undergoing surgery in the summer, he’s spent months waiting for the all-clear to resume full training.
The green light finally arrived this week, with Gerrard confirming that the 29-year-old was involved with the first-team group on Friday.
“It’s also a big day for Ryan Jack because he’s back with the team today for the first time in seven months,” said the manager after providing a more general squad update [RangersTV]. “That’s a big plus for us.”
“Hopefully, he can push on now, push through and we can get some 11 vs 11 work into his legs and he can be back with the team (be available for selection) in the next couple of weeks.”
Based on Gerrard’s update, Jack could perhaps target a return to the matchday squad for a home Premiership fixture against Ross County on 7 November. Or, failing that, he should definitely be ready to return following the next international break.
Jack is a big fan favourite and this was the news so many supporters had been waiting for for a long time.
