Rangers fans have repeated the club’s calls for “consistency” after Kemar Roofe became the latest player to be subject to an SFA retrospective charge.
Steven Gerrard made the comments on consistency after Gers striker Alfredo Morelos was retrospectively banned for three matches following a clash with Ryan Porteous in the 1-0 win over Hibs.
Roofe was then retrospectively charged by the authorities for a tackle in the 1-0 win over St. Johnstone, with Celtic’s Albian Ajeti also charged for a dive this week.
It’s the first time the Compliance Officer – a role currently vacant following the departure of Clare Whyte – has raised their head above the parapet in months.
That’s despite some horrific challenges in the last few months, including some on Rangers players.
The two stand-outs are perhaps the one involving Aberdeen’s Curtis Main on Borna Barisic which was a horrific and dangerous lunge and Shane Duffy’s scything challenge on Ryan Kent in the 1-0 Ibrox win over Celtic.
There was also the horrible Ryan Edwards tackle which took a lump out of Alfredo Morelos’ knee in the 4-0 Rangers win over Dundee United in September.
That’s not including the variety of awful tackles, off the ball incidents or situations worthy of similar punishment which have gone without reprimand in other matches involving other clubs.

The entire process has been brought into disrepute and Scotland needs to have a long look at the governance of the game in the country.
It’s time for change – and it starts with this nonsense disciplinary process and the political re-refereeing of games.
