On Saturday evening, it emerged that Jermain Defoe had been involved in a car crash.

Following Rangers’ 5-0 win over Aberdeen at Ibrox, in which he scored, the player was in what has been described as a three-car collision near the Clyde tunnel [Glasgow Evening Times].

Photos from the scene showed considerable damage to the 36-year-old’s Range Rover. Thankfully, Defoe emerged totally unhurt, though, and he posted a video on his Instagram to allay the fears of his fans.

“Hi guys, just want to say thank you for all your lovely messages,” he said. “I know you must have been so worried.”

“I’m fine, I’m just going to head home and rest up. Still a bit in shock but I’m all good. Thank you for all your messages again, cheers.”

Rangers also took to Twitter to confirm the forward had been involved in a crash, but to assert that he was unhurt.
