Jermain Defoe might’ve only seen eleven minutes for Rangers against St. Johnstone, but he still managed to nab two goals in a 4-0 win.
Replacing fellow striker and goalscorer Alfredo Morelos – who kicked things off with the most Morelos-y goal thinkable – Defoe might’ve been happy fashioning just one chance.
But this was one of the brightest cameos the former England international will have ever had.
The on-loan Bournemouth forward linked up with Joe Aribo nicely, skied one shot over the bar and of course banged two stylish finishes past a hapless Zander Clark.
Appreciative Rangers fans have been quick to lavish praise on the forward.
Brilliant 2nd half performance Rangers. Morelos brilliant again. Defoe clinical. Davis and Ryan Jack quickly becoming our strongest midfield pairing and Barasic finically growing into that Rangers jersey.

What a second half 👍🏻 Those two staunchly dubious goals make up for the penalty we should have had.
Defoe is absolutely class. Chucked on for 8 minutes, scores in 2.

That Defoe goal was outstanding. There’s a reason they call him the young Kenny Miller.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Morelos & Defoe score 100 goals each this season x

Morelos comes off and Defoe comes on for the last 10 mins. He scores 2.

Rangers’ lethal duo: Alfredo Morelos & Jermain Defoe
Defoe’s explosive cameo had shades of Morelos’ introduction in the 6-1 win over Hibs.
The Colombian came on and scored a double after the Englishman had already banged in a hattrick.
Both players are in absolutely lethal form and that is of course only good for the fortunes of Rangers.
What gives the Morelos Defoe relationship an extra dimension is how much the duo clearly gets on with each other.
Jermain Defoe is 13 years Morelos’ senior and they clearly have a relationship which is healthy for each other and healthy for the competition on the pitch.
Today both players showed exactly what they bring to Rangers.
And despite only playing a fraction of the game, you don’t think Alfredo will be too upset that the headlines will now go to the former Spurs icon.
