Another trip to Easter Road, another disappointing result. Once more, Steven Gerrard was left frustrated when giving his post-match reaction to RangersTV.
Just as it was in December, Rangers were the better side on the night, but failed to make that dominance tell.
Gerrard’s men have now dropped six points at the hands of Hibernian this season.
Three league draws, all of which could and should have been victories.
If they had shown more composure in the final third against the Edinburgh-based team on all three occasions, they would be mounting a serious title challenge.
Instead, the race now looks all but over.
Didn’t do enough
“I feel as if we dominated the first 55 to 60 minutes, but not the full game”, Gerrard told RangersTV.
“I thought we were outstanding in the first half. We looked so dominant and we looked as though we were going to go and put the game away very early.”
“But, again, we paid the full price for not showing enough quality or composure, or enough killer instinct, in the final third.”
“You have to realise, we can have one of these a season, maybe two. But, this has happened five or six times now, and it is my responsibility.”
Clearly, the manager was extremely frustrated once more.
It seems that every time his side get a good run together, one performance comes along which derails it.
Unfortunately, when playing catch up, you just can’t afford to falter so frequently.
There was a lot of frustration among the supporters last night. However, rather than turning on the manager, the majority seemed to agree with his assessment.
