Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has sent a message to supporters as he praised the club’s players and staff for deferring wages amid the global pandemic [Rangers].
Like every other club, the Ibrox side is facing a challenging few months amid the domestic league shutdown and by taking this deferral the players, staff and directors alleviate the pressure on the club.
This also ensures that non-playing staff and other workers will get full pay during the period, even if the club has been forced to place some workers on furloughed leave.
“I think the players and the directors and the staff have shown good leadership by doing this voluntary,” said Gerrard.
“I think it was a no-brainer and the right thing to do.
“I think it’s important that you show respect to everyone at the club whatever your role is and I think we’ve shown real good togetherness by doing this.
“I’m very proud of the efforts and the support of everyone at the club, I think it was unanimous that everyone wanted to do this.
“I think it’s important that during these hard times that no-one suffers from financial hardship.
“It does make me really proud as the manager that everyone was really keen to make sure that everyone was looked after at the club.”
Rangers revealed last night that the club would be taking measures to help alleviate the financial pressures of a domestic league shutdown.

This move ensures the short-term financial stability of everyone in the background of the club during this difficult period and the players and staff deserve every credit.
Gerrard rounded on sending a message to the club’s fans amid the shutdown and thanked the NHS and other key workers for the work they’re doing.
But Gerrard, the players and the staff also earned the praise of Rangers fans on Twitter:
