Rangers fans have reacted to the starting XI for today’s friendly clash against Lokomotiv Tashkent in Dubai.

The game is set to kick-off as scheduled at 11 am with the Sevens Stadium surface deemed safe for play despite heavy overnight rain.

Just shy of two weeks after the momentum-shifting win at Parkhead, this will be the first time the Gers players take to the pitch in 2020. It’s a chance for the squad’s established stars to shake off any rustiness and an opportunity for fringe players to stake a claim for selection.

It’s likely that the vast majority of those who have made the trip to the UAE will play some part in this fixture, with wholesale changes expected at the break.

However, a starting XI has been announced [RangersFC Twitter], with Gerrard plucking for a mixture of youth and experience.

Wes Foderingham takes his place beneath the sticks, while teenage right-back Nathan Patterson joins Nikola Katic, George Edmundson and Borna Barisic in the back four.

The midfield three is strong with Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield and Joe Aribo all named.

Jermain Defoe leads the line and is accompanied by two players with a point to prove in Brandon Barker and Sheyi Ojo. Both wingers have come in for criticism over the first half of the season, but they’ll be hoping for better things in 2020.
