With no live football on the TV Rangers fans were treated to a blast from the past when BBC Scotland aired a special screening of the 2002 Scottish Cup Final.
Dubbed the “Lovenkrands Final” by supporters, Rangers ran out 3-2 winners against Celtic in one of the most memorable trips to Hampden in the modern era.
The match included two star-studded Glasgow teams, was full of fight and passion, had some moments of real quality and of course, a last-minute winner from Peter Lovenkrands.
Rangers twice came from behind to win the match showing grit, determination and dig throughout, running out deserved winners in the end.
Barry Ferguson put in a midfield masterclass whilst the likes of Lorenzo Amoruso, Neil McCann and of course Peter Lovenkrands put in big performances for the Teddy Bears.
Lovenkrands had initially equalised for Rangers after Alex McLeish’s side fell behind to a first-half John Hartson header.
Bobo Balde then restored Celtic’s lead in the second half before Barry Ferguson flighted in a wonder free-kick to drag the Ibrox club level.
But it was Peter Lovenkrands who would steal the victory for Rangers in the final moments, connecting with a stunning Neil McCann cross for his diving header to nestle in the back of the net.
