Rangers fans have raved about the performance of Calvin Bassey in the Europa League win over Standard Liege on Thursday evening.
The Gers ran out 2-0 winners in Belgium courtesy of a first-half penalty from James Tavernier and a stunning long-range strike from Kemar Roofe in injury time.

It wasn’t just the goalscorers who impressed, though.
Calvin Bassey started the evening on the bench but when Borna Barisic was forced off through injury in the 43rd minute, he was brought on for his first appearance in the Europa League proper.
If the 20-year-old was nervous, he didn’t show any sign of it, as he went straight into the thick of the action at left-back.
Bassey made a number of key tackles and interceptions and while the Gers are always going to miss Barisic’s wand-like left-foot when he’s not on the pitch, the ex-Leicester City man offered his own considerable threat through powerful runs down the flank.

In what was just the sixth senior appearance of his career, he looked right at home on the big stage and although he picked up a needless yellow card in the 66th minute, he helped see out a clean sheet despite the difficult conditions at the rain-soaked Stade Maurice Dufrasne.
Plenty of Rangers supporters were delighted with the young full-back’s efforts and took to social media to praise him.
