After Neil Lennon was attacked with a coin at Tyncastle last night, the whole of Scottish football has been sparked into debate.
Whilst the actions of the fan have been resoundingly condemned, and quite rightly so, there’s been immense scrutiny on Lennon’s actions. The Hibs manager outright goaded supporters after Hearts had an equaliser disallowed.
Besides the sheer comedic value of it, it smacks of huge disrespect. Lennon really did look like a fool.
Whilst some claim this was justified through any abuse he receives, why does Lennon get held to a different standard from everyone else? His reaction to the disallowed goal was not professional nor remotely dignified.

Lennon also went down clutching his face even though camera seemed to show the object hitting his chest. He again claimed this morning that the coin hit his face.
Whatever you think about it, it is disgraceful someone should throw a coin at a football game. But Lennon’s behaviour for the goal is not befitting of a professional manager.
Hearts goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal was also attacked by a Hibs fan as he retrieved the ball for a goal kick. Zlamal was still furious this morning.
Neil Lennon isn’t exactly the most popular man in Govan. He also goaded Rangers fans similarly in the 5-5 season finale in April. Here’s what Rangers fans make of the entire thing.
